Were off playas! Were off to uillengdo( dont know if i spelled that correctly. Were bout to wonder to dokdo. My fellow wanderees Roxy And Dave.... Lets wander!
Day 1
So we've been on the bus for about 2 hours and I just suffered a very close defeat to Dave. Mario kart, it's a crazy game haha. It was a bitch victory for Gagnier without a doubt but my hat goes off to him. The bus was surprising. For 16000 won I thought the bus was not going to be that comfortable. But it turns out that the bus turned out to be okay... More than okay actually. It's of baller status in my book ... Especially for the price..... Destination Dong Hae (동해)

So, we get to Dong Hae and everyhing is tite and dandy. We get to the pier where they leave for Ulleungdo 울릉도. It turns out there are no more seats left and we seemed to be SOL. Plus he was saying that the weather might be rough so there might not be any boats that are going to leave the port....daaaaammmm ittttt. But it turns out that there were seats available in Pohang which is another port city which is about 3 hours away.... Great more time on a bus... Just as we are about to leave Dave points out a ship being swarmed with people and... It turned out to be the protector of DOKDO! This ship was badass and it was a boat to be reckoned. That's what you get when you wander.
We get to Pohang(포황) and it's about 7. The bus ride was bearable but we were starving. I attempt to ask a Korean man where a good sashimi restaurant is ... No luck. A second guy asked... No luck.... A third guy asked and with a cliched third times the charm.... he points to us in the right direction. We make our way to 죽도시장 (the area in pohang where there are some good eats) and in that area we went to a smaller area called 회타운 (seafood town). The outcome was was indeed wander worthy.
After being barraged by restaurant owners, we ask a lady where a good place to eat would be... She immediately takes her to her friends restaurant. It was the right choice... They treated us to a meal to not be forgotten. They brought tentacles and fish and sea penis( as my friend Dave would say). My friends didn't like some of the foods they brought us but I like sea penis(sea cucumber) ... But I've got to say that it is an aquifer taste fo sho. But for 40000 won, the food and service was excellent .. It was more than we could ask for... Plus the lady sad I was pretty ( a confidence boost). After gourging ourselves on creatures of the sea, the lady leads us to our 찜질방 it was a decent place for 7000 won to spend the night there. We drop ourselves and we proceed towards our calling... The water.
It was dope.. The water was calm and there were boats galore. We do the right thing and buy ourselves some beer and ramen. On our way Dave makes a friend with a local feline....It seems that cats and Dave have an affinity for each other. We talk our jibber jabber and make way to where we are going tomorrow... The pier where we Are leaving to uilleng... The iPhone def helps with the navigation. We lucked out on the fact that we were staying at a place close to the pier... Sweet
Day 2
And we're off to Ulleungdo. We're pumped and ready to go. We get on the boat with grandma and grandpa tourists. We are excited... we are live and ready .. we are...sick. The boat starts rocking 3/4 of the way there. The captain blurts out on the speaker that we are turning back to home port.. noooooo. We're gonna have to endure this for 2 more hours. I was the only one out of the three to have nothing come out of my mouth.. throw up or spit.. i was fortunate.. dave and roxy on the other hand were not so fortunate. Dave pays tribute to the toilet gods and roxy with bag to the mouth. I attempt a weird yoga trance that puts me in weird position where i put my head to the side and grabbing the seat behind me... EPIC. So, we get back. All of us not feeling our usual selves. We attempt to get our bearings by getting some snacks and hanging out by the beach.
We manage to pull ourselves up and head to a restaurant. We grab some chow and then make our way to some love motels by the beach.... We were rejected by every motel/hotel there. Apparently, they don't allow girls and guys to sleep together in the same rooms. Too much hoing around by the locals I guess. We make our way to homeplus.. grab some supplies and tell the taxi driver to get us to a motel/hotel where we can crash together and save some cash. We find ourselves at the Bali Hotel ... This was indeed a treat. With vibrating sex toys, lubricants, and everything you're wanting in a massive orgy all in a vending machine... We clearly made the right decision. haha. We walk around for a bit and find ourselves a nice little restaurant where we order one of the best Chim dalks i've had in a while. After this we crash.
Day 3
Dave gave us the brilliant idea of going to Kyung Ju .. saying comparing it to the kyoto of Japan. We hop on another bus and make our way over there. And he was right. I love Kyung Ju. I think it's a cool ass city with a lot of things to experience and do... too bad we didn't get to do all of it... With Roxy being involved in a car accident.. the day just went downhill. The police, insurance, and ambulance came...poor Roxy Things didn't brighten up until dinner. We went to Chom Song Dae to wind down and knock back a couple of beers. The rest is history. Well, I can definitely say that even though there were a lot of negatives in the trip.. a lot of positives came out of it as well. For instance, being with certain friends or people can make or break the experience. Dave, Roxy you guys made the trip... it was one helluva ride.
Wandering,
Johnny
